This novel peptide, colivelin, was engineered to enhance the neuroprotective capabilities of humanin (HN). It combines Activity-Dependent Neurotrophic Factor (ADNF) with AGA-(C8R) HNG17, a robust HN derivative. Colivelin has demonstrated remarkable potential by entirely halting cell death triggered by overexpressed genes causing Familial Alzheimer’s disease (FAD) and beta-amyloid (1-43). When administered intraperitoneally, colivelin effectively mitigates memory impairment, presenting itself as a promising candidate for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease.
